Hannah Karrass
Equine Therapy Professional
My name is Hannah Karras. I am a Tennessee native who loves the outdoors and spending time with my family and friends. I am currently a Kindergarten teacher. I have had the honor of working in our local school system for five years. In those five years I have taught fifth grade for three years and Kindergarten for two. Though they are very different grade levels they have taught me alot about myself and my teaching style. It is safe to say I have enjoyed every minute of it.
In December 2020, I graduated with my masters in Mental Health Counseling. After graduation I started working with a local mental health clinic as a therapy assistant. While working there I helped run teen and young adult group counseling sessions. During that time I had the privilege of learning all the different skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). As I learned each skill, I worked to put them into use in my own life.
I have also had the privilege to work alongside Diana Depugh at “Once Upon a Time…” Farm horse therapy. While working there Diana helped me better understand how horses can help us mentaly as well as physically. I have always had a bond with horses and people. So learning these techniques helped me bridge the gap between the two things I loved. I feel that there is so much that we can learn from individuals and horses. Everyone and everything has a story to tell. It is our job to listen and learn.
